Tobin sharp in SNHU victory

Graduate Student Wes Tobin (Portsmouth/Portsmouth Christian Academy) tossed a two-hit shutout (seven innings) and catcher Dakota Mulcay (Goffstown/Cushing Academy) hit a home run as the 20th-ranked Southern New Hampshire baseball team beat Stonehill 8-0 in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday. Tobin allowed two hits, struck out 11 and didn’t walk a batter. His 11 strikeouts were one short of his career high. Mulcay had two hits and three RBIs in the victory. SNHU won Game 2 7-4 to improve its record to 4-0. His home run was the 17th of his career and moved him into a tie for fourth place with Caleb Potter (2017-18) on the program’s all-time home run list.

Aiden McDonough (Dover/Dover HS) and Chris Hanna (Kingston/Sanborn Regional) limited Eastern Connecticut to three baserunners in the final 4.2 innings of Plymouth State’s 8-4 loss in Game 1 of a doubleheader Saturday. … Will Conaton (Windham/Windham HS) struck out nine and earned the save to help Saint Anselm defeat St. Michael’s 6-3. First baseman Kyle Maurice (Exeter/Exeter HS) collected two hits and two RBIs in the win. … Brandon Dufault (Windham/Windham HS) earned the save in Game 1 as Northeastern swept a doubleheader from UMass 5-2 and 4-3. Dufault pitched a scoreless inning, walked one and struck out one. Outfielder Ben Malgeri (Stratham/Exeter HS) had two hits in each game, and catcher Teddy Beaudet (Franklin/New Hampton) two hits and scored a run in the Game 1 victory. … Shortstop Kyle Ball (Stratham/Exeter HS) had a hit and drove in two runs in Stetson’s 13-6 loss to Florida Gulf Coast University. … Kevin Gould (Rollinsford/St. Thomas) pitched 1.2 scoreless innings of relief to earn the win in Bryant’s 13-4 triumph over Mount St. Mary’s in Game 1 of a doubleheader. He didn’t allow a hit or a walk, and struck out three. … Collin Duffley (Manchester/Central HS) allowed one eared run in six innings to collect the win in UMass-Lowell’s 14-1 victory over Binghamton. He surrendered six hits, struck out three and walked one. Infielder Keegan Calero (Rochester/Spaulding HS) had two hits in the win, including his third home run of the season.
