Legion baseball adding new level?

New Hampshire American Legion Baseball is exploring the possibility of adding another level to its current program.

Legion baseball currently offers a 19 and under senior program, and a 17 and under junior program. The new “prep” program would be for players age 13-15 or 15 and under.

This porgram would be geared toward middle school players (7th and 8th grade) and some 15-year-olds who are not playing baseball for their high school. Teams would follow all the rules of legion baseball from registration, insurance, etc. The schedule would begin in mid-April and run through early June and would play on weekends only. There would be a state tournament and once the season ends these players could compete for a roster spot on the junior team and continue playing that summer.

New Hampshire is looking for a commitment from teams that would be interested in having one of these teams in 2019.  Newmarket and Hudson are among those who have expressed interest.
