New Hampshire will not have an American Legion Baseball season this year. In an email to teams in the state sent Sunday, New Hampshire American Legion Baseball chairman Rick Harvey wrote that “The Department of New Hampshire American Legion Baseball Program will not continue to seek operation for this 2020 season.”
Harvey went on to explain that the decision was made after receiving a memo from the American Legion National Organization stating that it had shut down all sponsorship and involvement in baseball for the 2020 season.
Earlier this year American Legion Baseball cancelled its regional tournaments as well as the 2020 American Legion World Series.
New Hampshire was among the states that was still hopeful an American Legion Baseball season could take place this year and was awaiting word from the Governor’s task force on any guidelines that could be used to have a safe summer of baseball. The task force is expected to make is decision by the end of this week and then issue an announcement.
