Legion: Nashua 10, Vermont 4

Nashua extended its stay in the American Legion Baseball Northeast Regional by beating Essex, Vt., 10-4 Friday in an elimination game played at Fitton Field in Worcester, Mass.

Nashua collected 12 hits (all singles) and took control by scoring four runs in the fourth inning and four more in the fifth. Ryan Haskell led the way with three hits. Nashua received two hits from Jackson Goldstein, Isaiah Hedquist and Derek Finlay.

Jake O’Connor earned the win in relief. O’Connor replaced starting pitcher AJ Holmes in the fifth.

Essex had a 2-0 lead after two innings.

Nashua, which improved its tournament record to 2-1, will play Cumberland, R.I. on Saturday (9:30 a.m.). Nashua coach Tim Lunn said Zak Lussier will start on the mound.
