AKRON, Ohio – The New Hampshire Fisher Cats (21-25) took down the Akron RubberDucks (27-19) in 10 innings Tuesday night, 4-2, to secure the win in the first game of a six-game road series at Canal Park.
RHP CJ Van Eyk held Akron to one hit and one walk behind six strikeouts in six scoreless innings, and reliever Jimmy Burnette (W, 1-1) struck out two batters in the win.

Tuesday’s 4-2 extra-innings win in Akron was New Hampshire’s second win in extras since May 23 and their third game in extra frames since May 19.
New Hampshire right fielder Devonte Brown knocked the first pitch out of the yard for his fourth home run of the season. Ten pitches later, Fisher Cats third baseman Alex De Jesus homered for the fifth time of the year. It was De Jesus’ third home run in his last two games and the third in his last five at-bats.
Van Eyk left Tuesday’s game with a 2-0 Fisher Cats lead after he held the RubberDucks to one hit and one walk in his six innings. Akron tied the game on a two-run single in the bottom of the eighth inning with two outs.

Miguel Hiraldo advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on another later in the inning to put Hampshire in front, 3-2. Following a pair of walks from Akron’s Lenny Torres Jr. (L, 1-1) to load the bases, shortstop Josh Kasevich scored on a wild pitch to stretch the Cats lead to 4-2.
The RubberDucks and Fisher Cats continue their six-game series Wednesday night at Canal Park with a 6:35 p.m. first pitch. New Hampshire’s Trenton Wallace (2-1, 2.39 ERA) takes the ball against Akron’s Tommy Mace (5-1, 2.03 ERA).
