
Bedford Post 54 will face Fall River Post 464, the Massachusetts state champion, when the American Legion Baseball Northeast Regional begins Wednesday at Holy Cross’ Fitton Field.
Fall River beat Shrewsbury Post 397, 6-4, to win the Massachusetts state championship. Shrewsbury automatically qualified for the Northeast Regional as the host team. Bedford and Fall River are scheduled to play Wednesday’s third game, which is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.
Bedford went undefeated in the New Hampshire state tournament.
Here are the other teams that qualified for the Northeast Regional: Waterford, Conn. (Post 161), Farmington, Maine (Post 28), Greece, N.Y. (Post 468), Cumberland, R.I. (Post 14) and St. Johnsbury, Vt. (Post 58).
The Northeast Regional is a double-elimination tournament and the winner will advance to the American Legion Baseball World Series, which will be held Aug. 14-19 at Keeter Stadium in Shelby, N.C.
