Bedford 9, Fall River 3

Noah Durham hit a three-run home run to lead the Bedford Post 54 American Legion Baseball Senior team to a 9-3 victory over Fall River, Mass., Wednesday on the opening day of the Northeast Regional at Fitton Field.

Durham’s home run was part of a six-run third inning that included an RBI single from Carter Crowley, an RBI single from Jake Oster and an RBI triple from Alex St. Hilaire.

Bedford added two runs  in the fourth. Crowley scored on a wild pitch and then Jack Hinton’s RBI single drove in Durham to make it 8-0.

Charlie Crawford scored on a William Smith groundout in the seventh to cap Bedford’s scoring.

Hinton pitched the first 4.1 innings and limited Fall River to one run on four hits.  Peter Suozzo pitched 2.2 innings of relief.

Fall River, the Massachusetts state champion, scored a run in the fifth and two in the sixth.

Bedford received three hits from Isaac Crivec and two from both Crowley and Oster.

Bedford will play Greece, N.Y., Thursday at 4:30 p.m. Greece beat Cumberland, R.I. 5-1 in Wednesday’s first game.
