Salem 5, Exeter 3

Despite being limited to five hits, the Salem Post 63 Senior legion team earned a 5-3 victory over Exeter Post 32 at Salem High School on Thursday.
Kevin Hardy had three of Salem’s five hits. Owen Doherty collected the two other Salem hits.
Salem (1-1) trailed 3-2 until it scored twice in the bottom of the fifth. Post 63 added a run in the sixth.
Dom Toscano earned the win for pitching three innings of relief. He allowed a run on three hits, walked two and struck out four.
Exeter (1-1) received two hits and two RBIs from Thad McConnell, and two hits from Jack Dever. Andrew Martin and Brady McGovern had Exeter’s other hits. Dever scored all three Post 32 runs.
It was a 2-2 game after four innings, and Exeter took a 3-2 lead in the fifth.
Exeter will play Dover at Phillips Exeter Academy on Friday (5:30 p.m).
