Exeter 10, Rochester 6

A seven-run first inning carried the Exeter Post 32 American Legion Baseball senior team to a 10-6 victory over Rochester Post 7 on Wednesday night at Phillips Exeter Academy.

It was an 8-6 contest after Rochester scored three runs in the top of the sixth, but Exeter (11-4) answered by scoring twice in the bottom half of the inning.

Nate Gallant collected three hits for Exeter, which received two hits and two RBIs from Grayson Davis and two RBIs from John Schlieder.

Schlieder earned the win on the mound. He held Rochester to three runs (two earned) on six hits in five innings. Finn Musselman and Jack Ferrelli each tossed an inning of relief.

Wesley Alfonso and Owen Nesbitt each had two hits for Rochester (6-9).

The victory clinched a tournament berth for Exeter, which is scheduled to play at doubleheader at Nashua’s Coffey Post on Thursday (5 p.m.) at Holman Stadium.
