PRINCETON, N.J. – Dartmouth’s Eddie Albert was named the Ivy League pitcher of the week Monday.
Albert’s second start of the season came Sunday against second-ranked LSU, the reigning national champion, and he turned in a strong outing.
Albert, a senior, threw 100 pitches in seven innings against the Tigers. He allowed three hits and gave up two runs, one of which was earned. He also recorded eight strikeouts, including one against the last batter he faced. Albert also tallied his 100th career strikeout, reaching the feat on his second K of the game. He now has 106 strikeouts in his career.
Albert leads all Big Green starters with a 3.72 ERA and 9.2 innings pitched. Opponents have a .189 batting average against him, and his 11 strikeouts this season ranks second on the team.
The Big Green will be back in action this weekend, heading to Maryland for a four-game series with Navy. The first game is set for Friday at 5 p.m.
