— Sophomore Sumner Hill-Goodell (RHP) — (2-0, 2.47 ERA, 1.09 K/IP)

Coaches comment: Pitching in this division really stands out. Reigning Pitcher of the Year Wyatt Divers (Belmont); Colby Whitehouse (Prospect Mountain); Braden Dion, Kaden Kirby, and Chance Derosier at Conant; Deagan Stover (White Mountains); are all returning guys who we have seen over the last couple years. I think Braydon White (Campbell) is the best player in the division and the Cougars reload better than anybody. The tournament schedule shakes out well for teams that have a ‘Horse.’ Semifinals on a Tuesday gives enough rest to come back Saturday.

Kaden Smith did not get enough credit last year for what he did on the mound for us. Losing him, a kid that threw more than 50 percent of our innings last year, will not be easy to replace. I feel good about our experience helping us early on, but we want to be playing our best baseball by the end of May.”
