Franklin Pierce advances

RINDGE — Julien Monks hit a grand slam in the fifth inning to propel Franklin Pierce to a 7-1 victory over Saint Anselm on Wednesday in the first round of the Northeast 10 tournament.
The Ravens (30-17, 20-4 NE10) also received solo home runs from Michael Quiros and Kiobel Lugo.
Saint Anselm (15-31, 9-16 NE10) scored when sophomore Mavrick Bourdeau led off the ninth with a solo home run.
Franklin Pierce will play Pace on Friday in Springfield, Mass. The game time has not been announced.
