PLYMOUTH – Plymouth State University baseball coach Clay Jenkins has announced the team’s 2019 schedule. The Panthers, looking to qualify for the Little East Conference (LEC) tournament for the third time in four years under the direction of Jenkins, are set to play a 37-game schedule, including 16 LEC contests.
Plymouth State opens the season against Nichols College at the New England Baseball Complex in Northborough, Mass., the team’s lone game before heading south for its annual spring trip. PSU will play eight games in Fort Myers, Fla., on March 9-16, before returning to New England for a doubleheader against Bates College at Lewiston (Maine) High School on Mar. 23.
LEC play begins on Mar. 26 with a single game at Keene State, before the first league doubleheader of the year at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth on Mar. 30. The Panthers open their home slate with an LEC twin bill against defending league champions, University of Massachusetts Boston, on Apr. 6.
Plymouth State wraps up LEC play with a pair of games at the University of Southern Maine on May 3 and closes the regular season the following day with a doubleheader at Bowdoin College.
The top six teams will advance to the LEC tournament, which will be held at the site of the No. 1 seed. The double-elimination championship tournament will begin May 8 and concludes on May 11, with the winner earning the league’s automatic qualifier into the NCAA Baseball Championship.
