Notes: Southern New Hampshire is coming off a season in which it went 41-17 and earned its second College World Series berth after sweeping its way to an NCAA East Regional title. … SNHU sat at 10-9 the morning of March 28 and went 23-4 to end the regular season. … The Penmen then went 2-2 in the Northeast-10 Championship, but bounced back by going a perfect 4-for-4 in the regional, as they outscored their opponents, 28-4, before winning a pair of games in the World Series for the first time in program history to reach the National Semifinals. … Southern New Hampshire is ranked No. 7 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Preseason Poll and was selected first in both the NCBWA DII East Region Preseason Poll and the NE10 Northeast Division Preseason Coaches’ Poll. … Graduate student John Stanton (Sandwich, Mass.) and junior Tom Blandini (Bow, N.H.) were both honored last month by being named to the Preseason NCBWA All-East Region Team. … The Penmen return 54 percent of their hits, 56 percent of their home runs and 58 percent of their RBI production from last year. … On the mound, 46 percent of their wins and 45 percent of their strikeouts return from a season ago, leaving room for plenty arms to step up. … Southern New Hampshire opens the 2019 campaign Friday, Feb. 8 (8 p.m. EST) when it kicks off a three-game set with California State University, San Bernardino.
