In his second career game in a Hawks uniform, Schworer pounded a home run to left field against East Stroudsburg on Friday for his first career hit, driving in sophomore Max Silverman (Westford, Mass.), who led off the inning with a single.
Schworer is the first Rookie of the Week selection from Saint Anselm since then-freshman Jared Ferris (Methuen, Mass.) captured the honors on Feb. 6, 2017. He is also the first student-athlete from the Hilltop to record a home run in his first collegiate at-bat since teammate Ben Horsfall (Westborough, Mass.) accomplished the feat last season on Feb. 25, 2018.
The Hawks return to action Saturday, when they will begin a three-game series at USciences with a doubleheader beginning at noon.
