MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The New England College baseball team received six shutout innings from pitcher Joseph Pascucci and earned an 11-2 victory over York College of Pennsylvania on Monday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Both squads managed to get players on base in the first inning, but no one crossed the plate. Christian Aybar doubled down the left field line in the top of the second to give the Pilgrims a 2-0 edge. Joe Maestu scored Luis Atiles on a sacrifice fly to add an insurance run in the top of the sixth. A balk brought home Aybar to extend the lead to four runs in the top of the seventh inning. The Pilgrims batted around in the top of the ninth inning and tacked on seven runs to blow open the score. The Spartans managed to plate two runs in the bottom half of the inning but the lead was too much to overcome. The Pilgrims grinded out 11 hits in the contest.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-This was the first meeting between the teams. The Pilgrims are now 1-0 against the Spartans.
-Joseph Pascucci earned his first win of the season after giving up four hits and striking out six over six scoreless innings.
-The Pilgrims plated 11 runs in back-to-back contests.
