The number of unbeaten NHIAA Division I baseball teams was trimmed to three Saturday, when Manchester Memorial outscored previously unbeaten Portsmouth 22-12 at Gill Stadium.
Portsmouth scored four runs in the top of the first, but Memorial answered with 10 runs in the bottom half of the inning. The teams combined for 31 hits in a game shortened to six innings because of the 10-run rule.
Memorial’s Jameson Riley went 4 for 5 with two triples and three RBIs. Colin Brodeur added three hits and three RBIs for the Crusaders, who also received three hits from Taylor Fournier. Memorial’s Ryan Cardow reached base five times on two hits and three walks. Cardow four runs.
Portsmouth received three hits from Drew Hudson and two from Ryan Minckler. One of Minckler’s hits was a three-run triple.
The victory raised Memorial’s record to 5-3. Portsmouth dropped to 5-1.
Bishop Guertin (7-0), Concord (7-0) and Londonderry (6-0) are the only unbeaten teams in the division.
