Central tops Memorial in 8th

Sam Schneider’s two-out double in the top of the eighth inning handed Manchester Central a 1-0 victory over Manchester Memorial at Gill Stadium in one of the few NHIAA baseball games played Friday.
Schneider’s double scored Jaren Franco Mora, who doubled earlier in the inning. Both hits came against Memorial starter Connor Erickson, who struck out nine. The Crusaders (7-4) stranded runners on first and second in their half of the eighth.
Central’s Olvis Genao pitched all eight innings to collect the win. He also struck out nine.
The victory raised Central’s record to 4-6.
