Notes: Southern New Hampshire, ranked No. 17 in the latest NCBWA Division II Poll, had a four-game winning streak snapped last Tuesday when it suffered a 3-2 loss to in-state rival Franklin Pierce in the opening round of the Northeast-10 Championship … Franklin Pierce built a 3-0 lead over the first four innings, before SNHU made it a one-run game with a pair in the fifth … the Penmen would get the tying and winning runs into scoring position in the bottom of the ninth, but did not score …  graduate student Jake Walkinshaw (Seymour, Conn.) relinquished three runs on eight hits over six innings, striking out three and walking five … junior Tom Blandini (Bow, N.H.) finished 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, as he connected on a solo home run in the fifth … classmate Jake Coro (Johnston, R.I.; run) and sophomore Dakota Mulcay (Goffstown, N.H.) were each 2-for-4 … the trio of senior Hayden Manning (Portland, Conn.), junior Wesley Tobin (Portsmouth, N.H.) and sophomore Jeffrey Praml (Bridgewater, N.J.) combined for three scoreless innings out of the bullpen … Walkinshaw and Praml, who were both named to the NE10 All-Conference First Team last week, added D2CCA East All-Region First Team honors to their resumes earlier Wednesday … SNHU is 23-15 (.605) all-time in the NCAA postseason, winning regional titles in 2012 and again last season … this will mark the first postseason meeting between SNHU and Assumption.

Notes: Assumption missed out on the NE10 postseason after suffering a 10-0 loss at Franklin Pierce on the final day of the regular season and has now been idle since May 4 … in that game, Franklin Pierce put together three-run innings in the first and sixth, before breaking it open with four in the eighth … senior Alex Richardson went 2-for-3, while junior R.J. Libby also turned in a multiple-hit performance, going 2-for-4 … junior Derek Adamson went 1-for-3, with senior Hunter Tralli and sophomore Dillon Koster both finishing 1-for-4 … grad student Mike Curtis allowed three runs on six hits over six innings, striking out four and walking a pair … Libby and sophomore pitcher Cole Chudoba were both named to the NE10 All-Conference Third Team last week, with freshman Patrick Harrington finding a spot on the All-Rookie Team … the Greyhounds are making their first appearance in the NCAA postseason since 2009.
