Nick Shaw allowed two hits in 6 2/3 innings as the Nashua 14U Babe Ruth all-stars defeated Phenix City, Ala., 4-1 Saturday night in the Babe Ruth World Series.
The only run Shaw allowed was unearned. Nate Smith pitched to two batters to close out the victory, which evened Nashua’s record at 1-1. Phenix City dropped to 0-3.
Ryan Bourgeois and Colin Holbrook each had two hits and drove in two runs for Nashua, which led 2-0 after one inning and 3-0 after three. After Phenix City scored in the top of the sixth, Nashua capped the scoring in the bottom half of the inning.
