Matt Hudlin scored from second base on an errant pickoff attempt in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Stratham NEIBL JV team an 11-10 victory over Goffstown/Derryfield on Wednesday night at Exeter High School.
Stratham took a 10-7 lead by scoring four runs in the bottom of the sixth, but Goffstown/Derryfield tied the game by scoring three runs on three hits in the top of the seventh. Hudlin entered the game as a pinch-runner for Frank Krupp , who reached on an infield single.
David Kohl collected two hits and drove in five runs for Stratham (2-0). Tyler Leedberg had a two-run single that handed Stratham a 9-7 lead and then scored on Kohl’s sacrifice fly.
Goffstown/Derryfield (1-1) trailed 6-1 early, but took a 7-6 lead by scoring four runs in the third and two in the fourth. Stratham tied the game when Tim Gori scored from second on Jakob Mikhitarian’s bunt in the sixth.
Jason Yeaton pitched two innings of relief to collect the win. Duncan Cullinane and Kaleb Cecchetti had Stratham’s other RBIs.
NEIBL Junior Varsity
St. Thomas (1) 11, Londonderry 0
Jason Pinsonnault pitched six shutout innings to help St. Thomas (1) defeat Londonderry, 11-0. Pinsonnault struck out eight.
Elliot Miles led the way offensively by going 3-for-3 with a triple, double and five RBIs.
NEIBL Varsity Division
Londonderry 9, Hollis/Brookline 0
Nolan Lincoln (four innings) and Alex Cafaro (three innings) combined on a shutout to lead Londonderry to a 9-0 victory.
Lincoln didn’t allow a hit in his four innings. He struck out nine and walked one.
Ryan Killelea, Luke Marsh and Braeden Griffin each had two hits for Londonderry, which had 12 hits in the game. Londonderry broke things open with a six-run sixth. Griffin, Brandon Fish, Owen MacDonnell, Cafaro and Chris Tutt each had an RBI in the inning.
Cam Guay allowed six runs on seven hits and took the loss. Hollis/Brookline received a single from Reid Mitchell in the seventh.
EBL
Jr. Swamp Bats 15, Heat 2
Shea Zina and Cam Chamberlain each hit home runs, and four pitchers combined on a three-hitter Wednesday as the Junior Swamp Bats 18U team knocked off the Granite Heat, 15-2, in Manchester.
Five players had at least two hits as the Junior Swamp Bats improved to 5-1 with their fourth straight win. Zina was 3-for-4 with four runs batted in, while Chamberlain was 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI. Matt Dodd (2-for-5) broke open a 1-1 tie with a two-run double in the fourth, while Chamberlain’s homer and a two-run double by Liam Yardley highlighted a six-run sixth.
Huxley Holcombe got the start on the mound and went three strong innings, followed by Alex Charles, Liam Conley and Taylor Letourneau. Conley pitched a scoreless frame and also had two hits and scored three runs at the plate.
