Portsmouth collects two wins

Portsmouth swept a doubleheader against Durham/Oyter River in the NEIBL’s varsity division Sunday in Portsmouth. Portsmouth won the first game 7-6, and took the second contest 11-1.

GAME 1
Portsmouth 7, Durham 6

Mike Hebert drove in the winning run with a sacrificy fly in the bottom of the seventh inning, capping a four-run comeback.

Justin Blumenthal and Ryan Minckler each had three hits for Portsmouth, which received two hits from Eliott Miles. Oscar Lalime drove in two runs in support of reliver Cam Fregeau, who pitched two innings to pick up the win.

GAME 2
Portsmouth 11, Durham 1

Portsmouth scored nine runs in the first inning and won the second contest, which was shortened to five innings because of the mercy rule.

Cal Hewett and Matt Minckler each had two hits and two RBIs, and Blumenthal drove in two runs with a single. Brandon Kady and Carmen Zingariello each scored twice for Portsmouth.

Oscar Lalime pitched four innings to earn the win. Colin Marshall pitched a scoreless fifth.
