Matt Minckler drove in a pair of runs, but St. Thomas put up four runs in both the third and fourth innings and escaped jams in the sixth and seventh to defeat Portsmouth 9-8 in an NEIBL varsity game played Tuesday night.
Minckler, Cal Hewett, Carmen Zingariello, Mike Hebert and Brandon Kady had hits for Portsmouth.
Weare 14, Nashua Chiefs 2
Cam Bergeron and Trevor Anibal each homered to lead the Weare offense in a non-league game.
Bergeron went 2-for-3 with five RBIs, and Anibal finished with two RBIs. Austin Hazzard added two doubles and an RBI in support of Brett Patnode, who earned the win for pitching two scoreless innings. Patnode didn’t allow a hit and struck out three.
