STA nips Stratham in 10th

Owen Tahnk’s single to right field scored Elliot Miles with the game-winning run as St. Thomas #1 beat Stratham 2-1 in 10 innings Wednesday night in an NEIBL junior varsity game played at St. Thomas Aquinas High School.

Stratham’s Jake Wiberg and STA’s Devon Paquette each started on the mound and allowed one run in seven innings. Wiberg surrendered two hits and struck out 10. Paquette allowed one hit and struck out three. Matt Minkler earned the win for pitching three innings of relief.

Minckler scored to give STA a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning. T.J. Enright tied the game when he scored from second on an error in the sixth.

Souhegan 3, Merrimack 2

Despite allowing two runs in the top of the seventh, Souhegan held on for a one-run victory.

Merrimack’s Andrew Coolidge pitched six innings, allowed three runs and struck out six. Souhegan pitching limited Merrimack to two hits in the game, one by Coolidge and one by Ryan Mainey.
