Brady Young limited Dover to one run in four innings of relief to lead the Exeter Post 32 Junior American Legion Baseball team to a 6-4 triumph Tuesday night in the team’s opener at Phillips Exeter Academy.
Young entered the game with the bases loaded in the second inning and pitched out of the jam without allowing a run. He gave up two hits and struck out four in the win.
It was a 4-4 game until Post 32 pushed across two runs in the top of the fifth. Gavin Duquette singled and scored on a Roger Davis double, and Davis made it 6-4 when he raced home from third on a Jakob Schwarz sacrifice fly. Duquette had two of Exeter’s eight hits.
Daniel Blankenship scored twice for Post 32. Jakob Mikhitarian and Seth Butler scored Exeter’s other runs.
The game was delayed for an hour after one inning and was called because of darkness after Dover hit in the top of the fifth.
