The Northeast Tides came away with a 5-4 victory over the Kingston Night Owls on Saturday in a battle between two of the top teams in the North Shore Baseball League.

The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the third, when the Tides opened the scoring. Sam LaChance led off the inning with a base hit to left field. The ball got past the Night Owls left fielder and the alert LaChance didn’t hesitate and made his way to second base and in scoring position. Austin Bequeath followed with a base hit that scored LaChance to give the Tides a 1-0 lead.
Aiden McDonough singled to center field before Gerardo Balderrama singled to right. Bequeath and McDonough scored on Balderrama’s hit, making the score 3-0.
Kingston rallied in the fourth inning, when it took a 4-3 lead. Northeast pulled even in the bottom of the fifth, when right fielder Will Maclean walked with the bases loaded to make it a 4-4 game.
In the bottom of the sixth, LaChance and Bequeath each collected their second hit of the game. Michael Pratte was then hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Max Malila followed with a bases-loaded walk that scored LaChance and capped the scoring.
