Simpson, Exeter edge Merrimack

Will Simpson pitched to the minimum 12 batters over the final four innings to help the Exeter Post 32 Junior team post an 8-6 victory over Merrimack on Wednesday night.
Simpson limited Merrimack to three runs in six innings of relief. He surrendered three runs on four hits and struck out three.
Nolan Ash (two hits, two RBIs) and Brady Young (two hits, RBI) led the Post 32 offense. Gavin Duquette, Evan Tanner, Simpson and Seth Butler had Exeter’s other hits.
Merrimack led 2-0 after one inning and 5-4 after two, but didn’t score after the third inning. Post 32 broke a 6-6 tie by scoring twice in the top of the sixth.
The victory raised Exeter’s District B record to 6-2. Merrimack dropped to 3-6 in District A.
