MANCHESTER – SNHU’s nine starters each recorded at least one hit and one RBI and senior Angus McCloskey (Farmingdale, N.Y.) struck out 11 over seven scoreless innings in a 14-2 win over Saint Anselm College Tuesday in the NE10 Quarterfinals. The Penmen advance to the NE10 Championship weekend and will next play Le Moyne College Thursday in Worcester.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Penmen took a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on five consecutive RBI hits by redshirt sophomore Nick Schwartz (Massapequa, N.Y.), senior Dakota Mulcay (Goffstown, N.H.), redshirt sophomore Cam Caraher (Plymouth, Mass.), redshirt freshman John Chacho (Seymour, Conn.), and Kennedy.
- Henrie hit his 10th homer of the season, a solo shot with two outs in the top of the second inning – an opposite field line drive to left field.
- SNHU extended the lead to 8-0 in the third. Chacho reached on a fielders choice, Kennedy doubled him home, and scored on a single by graduate student Idelson Taveras (Lawrence, Mass.).
- Henrie added a sacrifice fly in the sixth, and a run scoring single in the seventh when the Penmen batted around for another four runs.
- Pinch-hitter redshirt freshman Dylan O’Sullivan (Manchester, N.H.) launched a tremendous home run in the eighth inning for SNHU’s final run.
- McCloskey struck out 11 overall, including 10 in the first five innings. Redshirt sophomore Griffin Gilbert (Concord, N.H.) worked a scoreless eighth before the Hawks scored a pair against redshirt sophomore Parker Hansen (Granby, Conn.) in the bottom of the ninth.
NOTES
- SNHU earned its fifth-straight NE10 Northeast Division regular season crown and sixth overall. The #1 seed played as the home team in the game at Saint Anselm.
- The nine SNHU starters each had at least one hit and one RBI.
- The Penmen are ranked 9th in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II Poll and still sits atop the NCBWA East Region Poll as well as the NCAA East Regional Poll.
- The Penmen won 4 of 6 games with the Hawks and lead the all-time series 59-34. The playoff win earns SNHU two more points in the Queen City Cup Challenge with Saint Anselm (SNHU wins 20-14).

- SNHU will join host Assumption, Adelphi and Le Moyne College to decide the NE10 title starting Thursday in Worcester. Assumption is hosting with SNHU’s Penmen Field unavailable. The Penmen will play Le Moyne Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the first game with a double elimination format.
