Oyster River High School graduate Brennan Oxford has transferred from Wake Forest to Florida State, where he will have two years of eligibility remaining. Oxford announced his decision on his Twitter account:
Oxford, a left-handed pitcher, was used primarily as a reliever by the Demon Deacons. He made 42 appearances with Wake Forest and reecorded 46 strikeouts in 40 innings. His issue was control, as he walked 40 batters in those 40 innings.
Oxford made 17 relief appearances in 2022, when he posted a 1-0 record with 17 strikeouts in 15.0 innings.
Oxford is pitching for the Brewster Whitecaps in the Cape Cod League. He’s pitched in 13 games and has a 2-0 record with one save and a 0.44 ERA. Oxford has allowed 12 hits in 20.1 innings, and has 23 strikeouts and nine walks.
Oxford was named New Hampshire’s Gatorade Player of the Year following his junior season at Oyster River, when he posted a 5-1 record a 0.16 ERA and batted .487. He tossed four consecutive no-hitters and pitched 30.2 consecutive scoreless innings.
