Division III Tournament Bracket
The main storyline in Division III is this: Can anyone prevent Monadnock from winning a third consecutive Division III championship? The Monadnock program has won 42 consecutive games — one of the longest winning streaks in the nation — and is the only unbeaten team in the state. The Huskies also have the Division III Player of the Year in Cam Olivo, and the Division III Pitcher of the Year in Ben Dean. Olivio, who has committed to Southern New Hampshire University, hit .692 with nine home runs and 39 RBIs during the regular season, when he also went 8-0 with 59 strikeouts and a 1.81 ERA in 31 innings pitched. Dean, a junior pitcher/catcher, committed to Dayton last week. … “I think our approach is keep things the same, do things the same,” Campbell coach Jim Marron said. “That’s what’s got us here. We’re just going to keep working at what we do. We always talk about just let the chips fall where they may. We’ll give ourselves the best opportunity, the best lineup we can to do what we need to do, then throw the ball and hit the ball.” … Campbell will have ace Logan Daigle availbable to pitch. Daigle recorded saves in each of his team’s two tournament victories this season. … The Monadnock/Campbell winner will play either second-seeded Bishop Brady or third-seeded White Mountains in the Division III championship game. … Bishop Brady received a complete game from Mike Thresher in its 5-3 victory over seventh-seeded Fall Mountain in the quarterfinals. Thresher allowed one earned run on three hits, struck out 12 and didn’t walk a batter. Bishop Brady trailed 2-1 entering the bottom of the fifth, but scored two runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth. … Bishop Brady’s only loss came against Campbell, 3-1. … White Mountains got a scare from sixth-seeded Conant in the quarterfinals, but advanced with a 9-8 victory. The Spartans beat 14th-seeded Newfound 4-1 in the preliminary round. … Senior pitcher/infielder Karter Deming and sophomore pitcher/infielder Noah Covell are the two White Mountains players who were First Team All-State selections.
