Franklin Pierce, Pace are NE10 favorites

MANSFIELD, Mass. – Pace, the reigning Northeast-10 Conference champion, and Franklin Pierce will enter the 2024 season as league favorites, according to the NE10 Baseball Coaches’ Polls announced on Tuesday afternoon. Pace was picked atop the Southwest Division with 59 points and seven first-place votes, while Franklin Pierce led the Northeast Division with 63 points and eight first-place votes.

Pace captured its first NE10 Baseball Championship title in 2023 on the campus of Le Moyne College, as standout pitcher Patrick Gleason was named the Championship’s Most Outstanding Player. The Setters will ride that momentum into 2024 and they begin with unseating Adelphi as the Southwest Division favorite — a title the Panthers held for each of the past four seasons.

Southern Connecticut finished close behind Pace in the poll with 55 points and three first-place votes, while New Haven was third with 48 points and the remaining two first-place votes. Adelphi and American International were tied for fourth with 34 points and Saint Rose was picked sixth with 16 points in the Southwest Division.

Franklin Pierce, the NE10 finalist from a year ago, is coming off a 34-19 (17-7 NE10) record and the program’s 18th trip to the NCAA East Regional. The Ravens ended a seven-year streak of Southern New Hampshire being the Northeast Division favorite, according to the NE10 Baseball Coaches’ Polls. The Penmen were picked second with 58 points and four first-place tallies.

Bentley (46), Assumption (35), Saint Anselm (28) and Saint Michael’s (16) rounded-out the results in the Northeast Division.

Southern New Hampshire is the first NE10 baseball program to begin its season on the weekend of Feb. 2-4 in the Houston Winter Invitational (Houston, Tex.). Conference play begins on the weekend of March 23-24. To view the full 2024 schedule, click HERE.
