Legion: Dever, Exeter win opener

NASHUA — Jack Dever collected three hits, four RBIs and pitched three innings of scoreless relief to help the Exeter Post 32 American Legion Baseball team open the senior state tournament with an 8-2 triumph over Weare.

Exeter trailed 2-1 until Dever delivered a two-run single in the fourth. He added a run-scoring double that increased Exeter’s advantage to 4-2 in the fifth. Post 32 added four runs in the seventh.

Exeter will play Nashua in Saturday’s 4 p.m. game.

Game 6: Keene vs. Londonderry, 1 p.m.
Game 7: Nashua vs. Exeter, 4 p.m.
Game 8: Salem vs. Bedford, 7 p.m.
