AKRON, Ohio – The New Hampshire Fisher Cats’ (20-27, 50-66) three-game win streak ended after a 4-1 loss to Akron RubberDucks (25-23, 68-51) at Canal Park on Thursday night.
The Fisher Cats recorded three errors and went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position as Akron’s four-run second inning stayed true in its first win of the series.
Making his second career Double-A start, Fernando Perez (L, 0-2) went three innings and allowed four runs, but only one was earned, while walking five and striking out two. Perez pitched into the bottom of the fourth inning before being replaced by Pat Gallagher, who induced a double-play and a flyout to end the frame. Gallagher went on to pitch two scoreless, hitless frames before righty Geison Urbaez dealt a scoreless bottom of the sixth inning with two punchouts. Relievers Kai Peterson fanned one in one inning of relief and Conor Larkin blanked the Ducks off the scoreboard in the bottom of the eighth.
Akron starter Yorman Gómez (W, 4-0) gave up one run on two hits and struck out nine over five innings pitched. Steven Pérez struck out three in two innings of relief as Jack Jasiak and Matt Jachec (S, 3) handled the last two frames.

The RubberDucks grabbed their first lead of the series by plating all four of their runs in the bottom of the second inning. After right fielder Joe Lampe led off the frame with a solo homer, Akron worked back-to-back walks with no outs in the inning. The RubberDucks cashed in two runs on a pair of New Hampshire throwing errors before shortstop Angel Genao’s single made it 4-0.
New Hampshire’s lone run came across when right fielder Gabriel Martinez walked and catcher Robert Brooks followed with a double. That set the table for center fielder Victor Arias to send a sacrifice fly to center field, plating Martinez and cutting the deficit to 4-1.
