Amherst resident Bryce Reagan, a freshman at the University of Texas, started at shortstop for the Longhorns in their opener at Louisiana on Friday night.
Reagan collected one hit in four at-bats to help Texas post a 3-1 victory. He scored in the 10th inning, when Texas pushed across two runs to break a 1-1 tie.
Reagan spent three years at Souhegan High School before he transferred to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., for his senior season.
