Pitchers Adam LaFond and Nate Kiah held Portsmouth to one hit and struck out 15 to lead the Goffstown 11-12 Little League All-Stars to a 5-2 victory in Game 1 of the best-of-three championship series Saturday night.

LaFond struck out seven in the first three innings, and Kiah struck out eight in three innings of hitless relief.

Joe Zingariello’s single in the first inning was Portsmouth’s only base hit.

Goffstown broke a 2-2 tie on Nate Dutton’s RBI double in the top of the fifth. Dutton had three hits in the victory. Noah Durham added a two-run double in the sixth that capped the scoring.

Portsmouth collected its runs in the bottom of the third, when Dillon Rando and Kenny Avery walked and scored on a two-out error.

Goffstown can win the state championship by beating Portsmouth on Sunday night (7:30) at Precourt Park in Manchester. If necessary, Game 3 will be played Monday (8 p.m.).
