NASHUA — The Futures Collegiate Baseball League of New England has released the league’s 2020 regular-season schedule. The Silver Knights’ 10th season will begin on May 27.
2020 SCHEDULE
The Silver Knights will begin on the road against the 2019’ regular-season champion, the Brockton Rox, at Campanelli Stadium. The Silver Knights then host the North Shore Navigators at home May 28 in a rematch of last season’s first-round playoff game. Nashua’s home opener will be the first of five Thursday night games throughout the season which will once again feature the Thirsty Thursday promotion.
The Silver Knights will host Friday night fireworks shows on June 12 and June 26 both against the Worcester Bravehearts and also on July 24 against the Pittsfield Suns. Friday night games – and all Monday through Saturday evening games – will begin at 6 p.m. in 2020. Sunday home games will start at 3 p.m.
The Silver Knights will also host two matinée games in Nashua. Education Day will be on June 3 at 10:30 a.m., where the team will welcome hundreds of area school kids for a field trip to Historic Holman Stadium. The second morning game will be at 10:30 a.m. on July 28 where the Silver Knights will welcome hundreds of area summer camp kids as well as retirees and senior citizens. Start times for away games should be released by the Futures League in the coming weeks.
The 2020 All-Star Game will be on July 14 hosted by the League’s newest team, the New Britain Bees, at New Britain Stadium in Connecticut.
Similar to last year, the 2020 Futures League will include seven teams: the Brockton Rox, North Shore Navigators, Westfield Starfires, Pittsfield Suns, Worcester Bravehearts, Nashua Silver Knights and the New Britain Bees. The Bristol Blues are no longer members of the Futures League. While the schedule will once again be 56 games with 28 contests at home and 28 on the road, the 2020 regular season will feature two halves and a new playoff format. This year, four teams will qualify for the playoffs, with both the semifinal and championship rounds being contested as best-of-three series.
The first half of the regular season will conclude June 30 with the first-place team at that point claiming the No. 1 seed for the playoffs in August. The second-half champion will secure the No. 2 seed. The remaining two playoff spots will go to the teams with the next best season-long records.
