Adam Scharn pitched a complete game to lead Hudson to a 6-0 victory over Souhegan on Tuesday in the NEIBL varsity opener for each team.
Scharn allowed three hits and struck out six in seven innings.
Travis Holbrook and Kyle Boulanger homered for Hudson. Holbrook’s homer was a three-run shot in the first inning.
Souhegan received solid relief pitching from Nashua North’s Isaiah Gutierrez (3 IP, 2H, 1 BB, 5Ks) and Wilton-Lyndeborough’s Sean Brennan (2IP, 1H, 1BB, 4Ks), and a strong effort from catcher Jeffrey Lugo.
Keene 11, Weare 3
Casey Jordan earned the win for tossing three innings of scoreless relief as Keene posted an 11-3 victory over Weare at Allard Park.
Keene (1-0) broke open a close game by scoring 10 runs in the sixth inning. Carl Hoden gave Keene the lead for good when he singled home a run to make it a 4-3 game.
Jordan allowed two hits and struck out four. Keene starting pitcher Wyatt Carey allowed three runs (two earned) on three hits and struck out one in three innings.
Cal Sault led the Keene offense with a hit, two walks, two RBIs and a run scored. Hoden and Kristian Hutchins each had a hit, and RBI and scored a run.
The loss dropped Weare to 2-1.
