NEIBL: Portsmouth sweeps Weare

Myles Sargent and Mike Hebert each had two hits, and Sargent, Max Lalime and Damon Chase drove in runs during a five-run second inning in to help Portsmouth win Game 1 of a varsity doublheader 5-2 against Weare on Saturday.

Ryan Minckler hurled five scoreless innings for Portsmouth to earn the win. He allowed four hits and struck out seven. Cam Fregeau pitched the final two innings (2H, 2R, 1ER) to earn the save.

Carter Pike, Austin Hazzard and Brett Patnode each had two hits for Weare.

Portsmouth 6, Weare 3

Portsmouth jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings of Game 2 and held on to secure the sweep.

Sargent had two hits, and Matt Minckler and Justin Blumenthal each drove in two runs in support of starter Oscar Lalime, who picked up the win by limiting Weare to eight hits and two runs in five innings. Colin Marshall allowed an unearned run in two innings to earn the save. Portsmouth raised its record to 12-3.

Pike and Cam Bergeron led the Weare offense with two hits apiece.

Londonderry 5, Concord 3

Owen MacDonnell tossed a no-hitter and struck out 12 to help Londonderry defeat Concord in the first game of a doubleheader.

Londonderry 1, Concord 0

Nolan Lincoln, the winner pitcher when Londonderry beat Bedford in the 2019 NHIAA Division I championship game, pitched a complete game and limited Concord to three hits in Game 2 of the doubleheader. Lincoln struck out 13.

Stratham 8, Souhegan 6

Matt Hudlin’s two-out, two-run single tied the game in the bottom of the seventh, and David Kohl and Damon Grace each had hits in a two-run eighth that earned Stratham a sweep with an 8-6 victory in Game 2 of a doubleheader at Exeter High School.

Brady Young scored what turned out to be game-winning run. Kohl completed the scoring. Tyler Leedberg had a two-run single in the fourth for Stratham, and Jakob Mikhitarian pitched two-plus scoreless innings to earn the win.

Stratham 13, Souhegan 3

Catcher Frank Krupp had three hits and scored twice in Game 1 of the doubleheader.

Roger Davis scored three times for Stratham, which received three strong innings from starting pitcher Jason Yeaton.

Jutras 3/14 Weare 0/1

Andrew Houghton tossed a no-hitter with 14 strikeouts to highlight’s Jutras’ doubleheader sweek. Houghton is entering his junior year at Manchester Central.
