NEC ranked in Division III poll

The New England College Baseball team is ranked No. 37 in the Collegiate Baseball Division III Preseason Poll.

NEC sported a potent offense in 2020. The Pilgrims ranked in the top 20 nationally in home runs (18), scoring (10.6 runs per game), and slugging percentage (.533).

The freshman duo of Michael Ciccotelli (Rochester/Spaulding) and Haruto Takahashi were honored by the New England Collegiate Conference with Rookie of the Week honors. Takahashi was named NCBWA Co-Rookie of the Week after he batted .407 for the final week of the shortened season. The Tokyo, Japan native helped the Pilgrims to a 4-2 record. He tallied a hit in five of the six games, including three multi-hit games. He drove in nine runs and scored 10 times. The rookie hit three home runs and finished the week with a .778 slugging percentage.

The Pilgrims were one of six New England schools to make the list, which included Southern Maine (5), Trinity College (19), UMass Boston (24), Tufts University (26), and Babson College (31).
