Concord High School’s Jonah Wachter wasn’t dominant for seven innings Monday, but only because Concord’s Division I tournament game against Goffstown ended after six.
Wachter, a senior, pitched a perfect game in Concord’s 10-0 win, which ended an inning early because of the 10-run mercy rule.
Wachter threw 73 pitches, struck out 14 and doubled in a run. Only one of the four balls Goffstown put in play left the infield.
“He had all of his pitches working,” Concord coach Scott Owen said. “He was throwing in and out, up and down and getting ahead of guys.”
Wachter struck out the first eight batters he faced. He also K’d the side in the sixth.
Concord’s Cam McGonigle had three hits and scored twice, and Tyler Wright went 2-for-2, walked twice, scored twice and drove in a run.
Concord will face Trinity in Thursday’s preliminary round.
