Lavigne promoted to Double A

The Colorado Rockies promoted Bedford’s Grant Lavigne from High-A Spokane to Double-A Hartford following Monday’s game against Tri-City. Lavigne, a first baseman, is expected to join Hartford for its game against New Hampshire in Manchester on Wednesday night.

Lavigne was leading the Northwest League with a .314 batting average (76 for 241) at the time of his promotion. No one else in the league was batting better than .294. He had 24 extra-base hits, including five home runs, and 38 RBIs. He had a .406 OBP, a .469 slugging percentage and an .875 OPS.

The Rockies chose Lavigne out of Bedford High School with the 42nd overall selection in the 2018 MLB draft. He was named New Hampshire’s Gatorade Player of the Year in his sophomore and senior seasons at Bedford. Lavigne committed to play college baseball at Wake Forest, but elected to sign with the Rockies instead.
