TEANECK, N.J. — Fairleigh Dickinson University baseball head coach Manny Roman has announced the addition of Joe Grassett to the program’s staff as the Knights’ pitching coach starting with the 2023 season.
“Joe is a great addition to our staff and we are excited to have him,” Roman said. “His background in analytics will be important for the success of our program and he brings a championship background, which is important for the players to learn.”
Grassett began his coaching career at Souhegan High School in 2022. He served as the program’s varsity pitching coach. The Sabers posted a staff ERA of 1.86 and a WHIP of 1.04 in his lone season. Souhegan pitchers struck out 215 batters in 143 innings.
“I am really excited to join the FDU staff,” Grassett said. “It is a privilege to coach at this level and join a knowledgeable coaching staff and talented roster. I hope to positively contribute to the program and help this roster and staff win a championship.”
Before becoming the varsity pitching coach at Souhegan, Grassett was a member of the school’s facilities and grounds crew.
After graduating from Souhegan, he attended the University of Hartford, where he was a four-year player on the Hawks baseball team and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. Grassett pitched four seasons for Hartford, was named to the America East Commissioner’s Honor Roll two times and was a part of the first America East Championship team at Hartford in 2018.
Following his time at Hartford, Grassett received a Master of Science in Data Analytics from Southern New Hampshire University.
