  • The Pilgirms struck first in the top of the second inning as NEC sophomore shortstop Brady Philibotte (Weare, N.H.) doubled to left field to drive in senior designated hitter Tyler Gendron (Milford, N.H.) to put his team up 1-0. On the next at-bat, junior first baseman Brett Patnode (Weare, N.H.) drove in Philibotte on a double to left-center to extend the lead to two. Finally, sophomore right-fielder Kyle Dobrie (Mastic, N.Y.) doubled home Patnode as the NEC took a commanding 3-0 lead.

During the next at-bat, Cannavo was caught stealing, but the throw allowed junior pinch-runner Ryan Hughes (Northwood, N.H.) to score from third, giving the lead back to NEC.
  • NEC senior pitcher Alex Perez (Leominster, Mass.) was outstanding in relief, allowing one earned run in three innings while striking out seven Lions and picking up his first win of the season.
