Coaches comment: “Strengths for the Pride will continue to be pitching and defense. Players have been committed with the best off-season attendance ever. the rotation will be anchored by junior Luke Dougherty, who started last year’s playoff game and is seen as the team’s ace. Simon Keary, another junior, will serve as the No. 2 pitcher. Last year Keary was the only pitcher to knock off the eventual Division II champion, Hollis-Brookline. Junior Will McPherson and sophomores Landon Abbott, Eli Wormald and Isaak Davis will compete for innings.
Cam Chevarie, a returning all-state selection, will lead the Valley offensive attack. Chevarie, along with Gavin Wheeler, will serve as the MV table-setters at the top of the order. Dougherty, Abbott and Alex McPherson will make up the heart of the Valley lineup. The Pride must improve on last season’s .236 team batting average.
Division II figures to be very deep and wide open this year. There are several teams expected to be in the mix.”
