MANSFIELD, Mass. – Senior catcher Jake Miller (Waltham, Mass.) got hot at the plate last weekend and helped the Franklin Pierce baseball team sweep Saint Michael’s College, earning him his first Northeast-10 Conference Baseball Player of the Week honor.
Throughout the four-game weekend series against the Purple Knights, Miller brought in seven RBIs after going 7-of-13 at the plate and scoring five runs. Out of his seven hits, Miller delivered a pair of home runs in each of the Ravens’ matchups with Saint Michael’s on Sunday afternoon, finishing the week with a .538 batting average, a .625 on-base percentage and a 1.154 slugging percentage. On the defensive end, Miller was also perfect from the field with a 1.000 fielding percentage, contributing three putouts a pair of assists.
This season, Miller has a .267 batting average through 15 games with two home runs and 13 RBIs, with 12 hits.
Up next, Pierce baseball hits the road for three consecutive weekends, beginning with a trip to Le Moyne College for an in-conference series with the Dolphins beginning March 31 at noon and 3 p.m.
