COLCHESTER, Vt. – Saint Michael’s College baseball sophomore Keegan Burke (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan) was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on May 5.
Burke went 1-0 with 17 strikeouts and two walks over 14.2 innings last week, finishing with a 3.07 earned run average. He struck out 13 Assumption University hitters without walking anyone across 8.2 innings in an 8-3 win on Tuesday. That strikeout count was the highest by a Purple Knight in nine years. Burke allowed two earned runs in six innings with four strikeouts and two walks on Saturday, but earned a no-decision in a 7-6, 10-inning victory against regionally-ranked Bentley University.
For the season, Burke went 2-3 with one save while fanning 59 batters and walking 22 in 53 innings. Burke is sixth in the NE10 in strikeouts per nine innings (10.02), and eighth in strikeouts. His 59 strikeouts were good for ninth in program history, but second since the mid-1940s.
