HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Franklin Pierce drew first blood against Lendrum with a leadoff double by Joey Acker, who later scored on Eli Battipaglia’s sacrifice fly.
  • Southern New Hampshire wasted a leadoff walk to Vargas Segura and a single to right by sophomore Dyrenson Wouters (Oranjestad, Aruba) and left a pair in scoring position in the bottom of the first.
  • SNHU was again in danger of not capitalizing on a pair of walks and a hit batter in the third when Risedorf delivered a two-out, bases-clearing double to the gap in left-center to put the Penmen on top, 3-1.
  • Franklin Pierce pulled even in the fourth when Ian Battipaglia led off with a triple to right-center, before Kiobel Lugo hit a two-run homer down the left field line.
  • The Penmen did some two-out damage in the fifth, with an O’Sullivan double down the left field line putting the hosts back on top, 5-3, before a two-RBI single by Vargas Segura unloaded the bases and put SNHU up, 8-3.
  • SNHU nudged its advantage to 9-3 in the sixth on a bases-loaded walk to sophomore Kyle Lavigne (Bedford, N.H.).
  • The Penmen tacked on a run in the eighth on a O’Sullivan sac fly to right.
