HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Southern New Hampshire jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first on RBI singles from Wouters and senior Jorge Burgos (Santo Domingo, D.R.), as well as a sacrifice fly to left by O’Sullivan.
  • SNHU kept pouring it on with four more in the second, keyed by a two-run single to left from Wachter. Risedorf was then hit with a pitch and O’Sullivan drew a walk – both with the bases loaded – to push the advantage to 7-0.
  • Jefferson made it on the board in the fourth against sophomore starter Austin Trumpour (Jensen Beach, Fla.) on a two-run home run down the left field line by Joshua Lopez.
  • The Rams slowly chipped away on a three-run sixth that trimmed their deficit to 7-5.
  • The Penmen scraped one across in the home half when Wouters led off by being hit with a pitch, went to second on a Wachter double and scored on Pisano’s RBI groundout.
  • Matt Vita made it a one-run game at 8-7 with a two-run single in the eighth against Risedorf, who then worked around a two-out single in a scoreless ninth.
INSIDE THE BOX
  • Burgos finished 1-for-3 with an RBI and a walk.
  • Trumpour (9-2) allowed five runs on six hits, while striking out six and walking a pair, over six-and-two-thirds innings.
