
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Saint Anselm College baseball program left South Carolina on a high note after winning the series against Southern Connecticut St. by posting a 7-4 win in five innings Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The scoring kicked off in the top of the second inning, when the Owls grabbed the lead on a two-run home run. Southern Connecticut St. extended their lead to 3-0 in the third with the help of a Saint Anselm error.
- Saint Anselm scored in the bottom half of the third inning as graduate student Aidan Dow (Lynn, Mass.) was hit by a pitch and advanced on a Austin Brune (Billerica, Mass.) single and an error. Brune also scored on the play, which cut the Southern Connecticut St. lead to 3-2.
- The Hawks took their first lead of the game with two outs in the bottom of the fourth. Freshman Coleson Kaluza (Ottaw, Ontario) walked before Brendan Harris (Altamont, N.Y.) hit a two-run homer to make it 4-3.
- Southern Connecticut St. tied the game in the top of the fifth, but the Hawks regained the lead on a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the inning beginning with a Brune walk. Sophomore Brendan Gonzalez’s (Mechanicville, N.Y.) vollowed with a two-run single to account for the 7-4 final. Rain forced the game to end after five innings.
- Gabe Knudsen pitched five innings to earn the win. He allowed four runs on five hits, walked three and struck out nine.
