MARSHFIELD, Mass.- The New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) has announced its weekly award selections for the week ending March 10.
Baseball
Senior Christian Aybar (Pawtucket, R.I.) who was named NECC Player of the Week, led the Pilgrims to a 6-1 week, batting .532 with a .594 on-base percentage and a .958 slugging percentage. Aybar hit five doubles, a triple and a home run on the week, tallying 12 RBI. He also stole four bases and scored 10 runs for the Pilgrims.
Sophomore Shayne Audet (Springfield, Mass.) picked up NECC Pitcher of the Week honors, made one appearance on the week for the Pilgrims, picking up the win. Audet threw five scoreless innings, striking out 10 opponents, allowing only five hits in the 14-1 victory over Chatham.
Freshman Anderson Jimenez (Lowell, Mass.) collected his first NECC Rookie of the Week award, had a strong start to his rookie campaign, hitting .333 in a 6-1 week for the Pilgrims. The freshman hit two doubles, knocking in four runs for the Pilgrims. He also stole two bases and scored 10 runs on the week.
Baseball returns to action on Wednesday when it takes on Anna Maria at the New England Baseball Complex in Northborough, Mass. at 3:00 p.m.
